Bodies of Sound

artistic research by Kristin Norderval

How to create a sound design and electroacoustic ensemble practice that facilitates and encourages listening to the embodied and unembodied sonic events in space, plus the different sound processing used?

Exploring the interactions in improvising electro-acoustic trio -an unamplified opera singer and two monophonic unamplified instrumentalists, each with different audio technology, in relation to the possibilities vd acoustic space of Studio LOOS.

Kristin Norderval will

  1. Prepare scores for the electro-acoustic trio (voice, violin, wind instrument), considering our different audio processing strategies.

  2. Experiment in sound design, making space for acoustic and electronic signals.

  3. Investigate which multi-channel setup and recording techniques are most effective to combine the unamplified embodied sounds (voices and instruments) with the live processing acoustic signals.
