Mei-Yi Lee, Nina Hitz and Sandra Pujols

 Mei-Yi Lee (percussion), Nina Hitz (cello) and Sandra Pujols (voice) are joining to play for first time together this free improvised concert.

Sandra Pujols is a contemporary singer, composer and dancer. She graduated in composition at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague under the teachings of Martijn Padding and is currently studying her master at the Conservatory of Rotterdam (Codarts) with René Uijlenhoet. Sandra studied classical singing technique as well as EVTS, and she’s currently singing with: Asko Chamber Choir, Lux Ensemble,Yoko Ana and Royal Improvisers Orchestra. She’s always combined her musical studies with classical and contemporary dance training, skill that she uses in some of her projects.

Mei-Yi Lee (Taipei, 1982) is a Percussionist and Performer based in the Netherlands. After achieved her bachelor degree at the National Taiwan University of Arts she moves to The Netherlands to continue her musical education at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under the supervision of Fedor Tunisse, Luuk Nagtegaal, Hans Zonderop. Her master research was focusing in the percussion works of John Cage. Presently she is a regular guest performer with several ensembles such as Slagwerkgroep Den Haag, Taiwan Youth Orchestra, NJO, Percussion Ensemble 1002, and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, among others; performing in important concert halls from France, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany, China, Japan and Taiwan. She is currently studying the konzertexamen degree at the Stuttgart Conservatory, as well as collaborating frequently with young artists and composers.

Harald Austbø

Harald Austbø began classical cello at the age of nine and later came into contact with improvisation through Ernst Reijseger. He has a Bachelor in Acting (Antwerp Theater School) and a Bachelor Cello-Jazz (Conservatory of Amsterdam). He toured and composed for various music theatre productions (Orkater) in the Netherlands and Belgium and plays in various jazz, improvisation and theatre groups. Current bands are: The Ambush Party, Susies Haarlok, Chris Corstens Kwartet, White Noise Ensemble. Austbø also plays solo with loops and human beat box.

Zvuv Clarinet Quartet

Zvuv Clarinet Quartet is Cornelia Zambila (violin), Maya Felixbrodt (viola), Clara Riviera  (cello) and Camille Verhaak (clarinet).

Three musical ingredients, driven from different compositional and performance methods, creating one piece: Quartet for Clarinet / Penderecki, Zvuvim / Graphic latex game score generated with movement by Maya Felixbrodt, and free improvisation.

Cornelia Zambila was born in Bucharest. She started to show interest for music at a very early age, inspired by her parents’ love for art. Having graduated the George Enescu Music Lyceum in Bucharest (violin, viola, piano), she continued her studies at the National University of Music in her homecity, expanding her creativity through the study of composition (with prof. Doina Rotaru) and orchestra conducting (prof. Dumitru Goia). During an exchange period in Belgium, at the Gent Conservatoire, Cornelia came in contact with the practice of external european music (West-African, Indian, Japanese, a.o.), which opened up new perspectives on performing and the ontological conditions of the artist. Clara Riviére was born on 1987 in Madrid, Spain. She studied violonchelo at the Royal Conservatori of Salamanca with Aldo Mata. She also as been teached by Angel Luis Quintana, Wolfgang Boether,Jaap Ter Linden, Marc Coppei, etc. Now she es doing postgraduatd with Larissa Groeneveld at the Royal conservatorium of Den Haag. She has played with the Jorcam orquestra and she has played as a soloist with the OSDA orquestra from the conservatory of Salamanca in Spain”

Camille Verhaak (1988) studies the Clarinet with Pierre Woudenberg at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague. Classically trained, she found her way to creation through improvisation. Next to the classical curriculum, she improvises with students form the classical-, composition-, jazz- and dancedepartment in the group DAMU that has performed in places like the public library and Den Haag Centraal Station as well as in concerthalls. She also collaborates with composers in her quartet that performs classical and improvised music.
